Well, it's been a difficult few months. September and October are usually the most exciting part of the football season but, unfortunately, Covid-19 has other plans...
We have been working hard in training each week and have been developing our social media presence (still a work in progress). We have attempted to arrange some friendly matches against #AfanLidoLadies and #YstradgunlaisLadies teams, but these have been postponed due to the national lockdown in Wales...typical!
We did, however, manage to get in a little friendly game against the Coedffranc U14 boys team before the lockdown! The boys were great players that showed real potential and their goalkeeper was a fantastic ambassador for the team! We've included a few pictures from the game. We hope we'll be able to link more with the boys team to create a fully inclusive and supportive team.
#SportWales #BeActiveWales have approved part of our funding request for the 'Prepare' section of the grant process and have been kind enough to grant us £895 towards the cost of: FAW Leaders' Award training, a temperature gun, PPE and other sanitation items, training bibs, space markers, training footballs and pop-up goals. This is a much needed boost during these difficult times and will allow us to continue to prepare for the difficult procedures ahead in these uncertain times. #thankyou
Our ladies have been working hard in our online circuit training and we're hoping to get some further funding from Sport Wales in their 'Progress' stage to support our women in working from home by loaning them equipment and creating a simpler platform in order to access our online circuit training. #womeninsport
Our wonderful sponsor, BADASS Mother Runners #BAMR, have done a wonderful job in getting our kit and training top printed. We're lucky to have a female-run business as our supporter and Bev has been amazing in empowering our team to focus on small steps towards our goals. Badass have not only sponsored our #orangearmy home kit and our fabulous #badassmotherrunners training top, but has also given us #badass bobble hats and running buffs ready for the winter training ahead! #womeninbusiness #womensupportingwomen #uppaffranc
We have also recently posted on social media about #mentalhealthawarenessweek and #saynotobullying from the #faw following the landmark televised football game involving Swansea City Ladies and Cardiff City Ladies. We are a strong supporter of mental health support and we encourage all our members to speak out #oktonotbeok. We, as a club, fully support the FAW’s stance on bullying and online abuse directed towards ALL players, coaches and parents in the beautiful game, regardless of gender, race, religion or sexual orientation. We will continue to focus on positivity and female empowerment through sport, and are committed to calling out and reporting any abuse and discrimination across any social media platform.
We'll try our best to keep you updated more often next month. All these local lockdown rules and restrictions has got us all feeling a bit 'meh' but onward and upward we go, focussing on the positive and on how we can support each other during these difficult times.
Thanks muchly for reading.
